Cuttack and Bhubaneswar: Twin cities! The tussle! The love! If you belong to any of the two cities, you must be knowing how the inhabitants in real life behave like twins. There’s constant war for supremacy, but put one down and you will face the wrath of the other.
Two cities with different cultures and beliefs, yet their relationship with each other brings us to the this tale.
A slow-paced town that engulfs within itself a sense of brotherhood versus a rapidly growing metropolis calls in for the greatest argument of the time: Cuttack or Bhubaneswar?
If you belong to the twin cities, you will definitely relate to these:
1. On Your Own v. The Acculturation of Brotherhood
Bhubaneswar is fast paced. Nobody has the time to stand and stare. Everyone is busy doing their own thing and definitely believe in ‘help will always be given, to those who ask for it’. Whereas the essence of Brotherhood is what defines the city of Cuttack. Everybody knows everybody and Cuttakias are proud of it!
2. The Test of driving: Broad National Highways v. Narrow and Congested Lanes
If you are a person who loves to race in the broad streets, Bhubaneswar welcomes you. The twisted roads, bending around Sikharchandi or Airport is known to every racing maniac. But if you want to take a test of your driving skills, go to Cuttack. The Congested Lanes and the overcrowded streets will definitely test your competency in driving.
3. Contemporary Living v. Traditional Living
It won’t be wrong to say that Bhubaneswar has emerged as a centre of qualitative educational services in the eastern India resulting in significant growth in the population of the youth which has ushered in a contemporary culture. Whilst Cuttack is a grey-headed city which is yet to pace towards the modernities. It may not have an action-packed night life, but it is an antiquated city which stands in contrast to the spirits of a proliferating urban center.
4. The Conventional Dahivada Aloodum v. The Neo Soul Food
Cuttack and Dahivada Aloodum are indivisible. You can take out Cuttack from Dahivada Aloodum but you cannot take out Dahivada Aloodum from Cuttack. Where Cuttack boasts of an approximate turnover of Rs. 3 crores per day from the sale of Dahivada, Bhubaneswar marches towards the contemporary. The emergence of Food Giants like KFC, Café Coffee Day, Pizza Hut, Dominos etc have caused Bhubaneswar to march towards the new-sprung outlets.
5. Karmabhumi v. Matrubhumi
For quite a few of us, one might be the Karmabhumi while the other is Matrubhumi. And between the two, an individual struggles with the choice of deciding which is better.
Brushing the differences aside, these two cities have always shared a symbiotic relationship with each other since their inception. They are interdependent on the other for their functioning rightly making them the Counterparts of each other!
Even if different, our hearts do beat as one.
