“Of the women, By the women, For the women”
Imagine the world that surreally lives together with all the love, affection and dignity. Perplexed yet? Hard to picture? Not after yesterday’s UNZIP, I assure.
When Mayfair’s porch was ecstatically filled with almost more than a hundred avid listeners eagerly embracing the boldness and bravery of every individual fighter, survivor and learner each with the tag, “I’m a woman, and am proud to be”.
UNZIP, was an initiative to celebrate the wonders of the womanhood, fiddling with all the flaws, embracing the eccentricity, momentarily swinging with the mood swings and talking about all, that has never been spoken about.
Breaking free from the chains of the society, it was an attempt to offer a mic to narrate your untold stories. An open mic event to let you fall in love with yourself in ways you didn’t even know exist. All the beautiful ladies who adorned the gathering with their tales, a little starry, a little scary, came back leaving behind a part of themselves that kept them from unleashing new horizons of opportunities.
It wasn’t just a streak of sunshine thriving to reach the bottom, it was a beckon of hope beaming from the confidence and respect for each other and most importantly, self. Inquisition had pulled people from all the corners of the state to find out the mysterious ingredient for being the suppressed half of the society, but they were astonished to unveil all the heroic stories that make it a shameful affair to even let comparison peep from the brink.
This event was not only an open mic to let the ladies have a chance, it was a sneak peak to how tomorrow is going to be with all the brewed emotions and sassy adjectives concocting slowly but steadily, strengthening the woman power.
More power to us!
