Ever written or received a letter from a far away land?
If yes, then you must have cared about that small, usually-square-sized, pictured, valuable piece of paper on the envelope.
Okay! You got me right. I indeed mean stamps.
Over the years, postage stamps have taken a leap. They have evolved from necessity to hobby and have found way from covers to frames.
Marking this miraculous journey, Eastern India Philatelists’ Association (EIPA) celebrated a 3 days long National Poatage Stamp Exhibition on nature and environment, named “Naturepex-2016” at KIIT international school, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, being way ahead of other states in the field of philately, witnessed its first postage competition-cum-show based on nature.
The exhibition was home to myriad of topics regarding the theme.
With exhibits as unconventional as bananas to rare posts on global warming to beautiful peacocks to deadly snakes to endemic and extinct species to the lurid sun to animals, both wild and domestic, the frames deliberately delivered awe-inspiring notion incessantly.
It was not just a generalised exhibition, it had dealers from various corners of the country with uncountable number of stamps, first day covers and coins from across the globe beautifully sorted for sale.
Almost 200 entries under various categories (Age-wise) competed for medals. On the last day, winners of various competition conducted on this eve were awarded along the medal winners of Naturepex-2016.
An initiative of different kind, fostering love and enlightenment for a rare hobby within the young hearts, a surreal gateway to the amazing world of philately and numismatics, this is what Naturepex-2016 was all about!
