Everyone knows the genius of Einstein! But there are many sides to his story which people do not know about – like his battle with speech failure, his teacher’s dislike for the brimming curiosity and how his father wanted him to study for the job of an electrician(which he wasn’t interested in) and how much he hated living in Germany.
Naseeruddin Shah, effortlessly shows the human side of a genius. The show is an introspection to a very complex yet simple mind. A mind which has the same child-like questions, a mind which is full of curiosity and grappling with simple questions like – how the same knife that cuts vegetables, kills humans too; how the state uses research work of scientists to make weapons; why you can either say ‘yes’ to war or ‘no’ to war; how the Jews were persecuted in Hitler’s Germany; and somewhere in between, the show starts a broader discussion of how you should Never be afraid to question.
The play is being organized by Zain Foundation for raising funds to build a housing facility for special children. It is scheduled to be staged in Rabindra Mandap – 10th of June.
TBS Verdict: Motley’s Einstein showcases Shah’s mastery over story telling. Watch a riveting performance by the master of theater himself.
