The Rhythm of Nation (RON), a youth led social organization, finished the events of their Railway Safety Awareness Drive ~ Rail-E-Gyan, last weekend in grand style. The volunteers were engaged in an informative discussion with the general public while some of them carried beautifully designed placards. The placards depicted certain railway and social norms like “Safety Comes First” and so on.
Mr. O. S. Rajaraman, Secretary, RON was a delight to watch as he approached and intrigued the public in a unique style. He not only talked about the recent accidents that have taken place like in Sambalpur but he was also able to educate the general public in various safety norms. The whole setup was a serene and beautifully planned affair. RON volunteers were present in their famous white T-shirts and one such volunteer Ayusman Chatterjee said, “We thank the East Coast Railway for giving us the opportunity to organize such an event. This is the first time a event of such magnitude is being organized in Orissa.”
The first day’s event was concluded by a nukkad (Street Play) orchestrated by a very talented and versatile group, PANKH. The dedication and skill shown by the PANKH volunteers was outstanding. The nukkad dealt with almost every major concern in railway safety. The general public appreciated this a lot as there was no shortage of applause after the nukkad was concluded. Another enthusiastic volunteer, Subhamoy Sinha said,” Rail-E-Gyan is a 2-day event. We did a nukkad at the Bhubaneshwar Railway Station. Next, we are doing Orissa’s largest ever flash mob for a social cause as well.”
RON has been doing a great job so far. We hope they are able to inspire individuals and organizations alike everywhere. We congratulate them on their success and wish them luck for their promising future.
