Even now when my dad comes on official trips to Bhubaneswar, he would insist on going to “priya” for the afternoon lunch. There are memories associated with the place, he would say.
For those who are unaware what “priya” is, FYI it is one of the most economical food joints which serves the most lip-smacking of dishes. We decided to feature the “chole bhature” of priya this week.As wikipedia puts it “Chole bhature (Hindi: छोलेभटूरे, Punjabi: ਛੋਲੇਭਟੂਰੇ) is a combination of chole (spicy chick peas) and fried bread called bhatoora (made of maida flour)”.Priced at Rs 35 per plate, it is enough to fit in as a quick-lunch/snack in money case you are short of pocket-money. The curd served with it serves as a topping on the “chole” and tastes divine. The hotel is jam-packed during lunch so avoid going there during peak lunch time unless you wanna die in a stampede(literally).
The best time to visit this joint is after 3:30 Pm, when the crowd thins out and you can relish the “chole bhatures”. Priya belongs to a famous range of South Indian hotels in Bhubaneswar ( venus – Inn group).
