Last year on 7th May, 1000 odd people from various locations across the globe devoted a couple of hours from their daily lives for service to the society and to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism. They visited anganwadis, foster homes, orphanages and spent some time with the children and the elderly people there. This certainly gave them a sense of self-satisfaction that none of the activities in their otherwise monotonous and mundane lives could ever provide them with. History of sorts was thus made.
Repeating the feats from the preceding year, the International Day of Service (initiated by the Bakul Foundation, Bhubaneswar) is being held this time on the 6th-7th May, 2012. To be a part of it, one simply needs to register at http://www.bit.ly/idos2012
Who Can Take Part?
We request everyone in India, wherever you are (any location) to join hands and Act Together by merely giving 2-3 hours on Sunday and Monday, 6th-7th of May, 2012 during anytime of the day.
What to do?
You could join a group that already exists in your city or start a group. You could form a partnership between Bakul and your organization/ institution.
The idea is very simple. 3-4 persons or more can go to a shelter home (orphanage), old age home, slum cluster nearby during your free time and spend time with the children/elderly and have fun/art activities on May 6th-7th, 2012.
International Day of Service is all about taking some time out of your schedule and helping people out unconditionally.
Registrations are open till 5th of May, 11:59 pm.
Please register on the link given below and forward/ share it among your friends and social circles (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) as well : http://www.bit.ly/idos2012
