Does the date December 5th ring a bell?

Many of us would be unaware about the significance of this date. FYI, It is celebrated worldwide as the International Volunteers Day. It offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual volunteers to make their contributions visible – at local, national and international levels – to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
United Nations Volunteers Programme in association with Bakul Foundation and CYSD (Centre for youth and social development) celebrated volunteerism by screening many inspirational films on real life volunteers. It was a platform where many volunteers were felicitated and they shared their experiences.
Two street plays were also staged by Nasha Mukti Yuva Sankalp and Vishwas.

It was followed by “Music For Change” . Vighnanz an eminent rock band from Cuttack volunteered to play songs that speak of change.
