Bring Your Own Film Festival (BYOFF) is an annual event held during February 21st to 25th every year on Puri beach. Not only filmmakers but also artists from other disciplines like music, theatre, painting, sculpture, dance, literature and photography are encouraged to participate and show their work. In short, BYOFF can be best described as an informal and intimate gathering of artists with films in the backdrop where screenings go on early into the morning hours- first, inside make-shift tents and then in the open air after sun down.

It is an unique exhibition of films where participants, both professionals and amateurs, bring in their films and showcase it at the festival. Other forms of arts like painting, sculpture, music, photography, and theatre also form a part of the festival. Every day, around 40 films would be screened at the event, said organisers. “Many young film makers, film buffs and art lovers are here already and in the coming four days, the beach here will turn into a magical world of creativity”. Open to all age-groups, all genres, and all kinds of films, the festival is being attended by film lovers from Guwahati, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and elsewhere. Filmmakers from across the state and from foreign countries are also here. Around 400 delegates from 16 countries will be present at this year’s festival where around 200 films will be screened.
