What is the first thing you do when you have a bad day? Well I guess you would sit alone and contemplate, do something to take your mind off it or listen to songs that make your day seem a little less pathetic.
Well when you will mix soul, blues, jazz, rock and an essence of opera music what you get is a band called ‘Coldplay’. The band has mesmerized people with its music since 2001 with their first album ‘Parachutes’, and trust me it was one hell of an album. Just imagine Enya’s music in the background to Leonard Cohen’s lyrical melody, which is very heavenly and you’ll get what I am talking about!
Why did I post the thing about having a bad day in the beginning? Well let’s just say Coldplay came up with their worst album till now with Mylo Xyloto. Trust me it’s heartbreaking, especially if they happen to be one of your favorite bands. The irony is that I am listening to the older hits by the band to take my mind off the new one.
According to Chris Martin, the album is “based on a love story with a happy ending”, in which two protagonists Mylo and Xyloto, who are living in an oppressive, dystopian urban environment, meet one another through a gang called “The Lost Boys”, and fall in love.
Nevertheless, Coldplay has been known as a band that makes songs that would inspire you. You can say that the new album, being a love story, is an experiment.
The album contains the ongoing commercial up beat tracks like “Princess of China” which is a duet with Rihanna, and “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”. It also contains slow tracks like “Us against the World”, “Up in Flames” and “UFO”.
Trust me if you are listening to Coldplay for the first time then drop your I Pod or any music accessory because this is a pure disappointment! Instead listen to tracks like “Yellow”,” Speed Of Sound”,”Shiver”,”The Scientist”.and about 12 more tracks from previous albums that will make your day!
PS : Princess of China is a ballad about loss and regret, co-starring Rihanna. Rumors are that the partnership came together over a champagne brunch at JAYZ’S.
As long as the music is good, who cares?
Binay used to be just another musician from MJ’s troupe. He was deported home when he was convicted in the American Court of Law for stealing a kid’s six-incher (from Subway, pervs) at the busy Madison Square. Unable to bear the separation, MJ kissed god’s door two weeks later. These days, Binay jams alone with his six-string and at times reviews bands, artists (and their music of course) for the Broken Scooter.
